It is the year 202.5x. Twenty-five years have passed since the events of Battle Network 6 and the Net’s level of Net Crime is down to its lowest level. However, a new evil has arisen. With the ending of Battle Network 6 dictating the story, MegaMan.EXE’s legacy continues.
Lan Hikari became one of the top 5 scientists in the world. He invented the Ethernet Wave system and many programs. He married his longtime friend Mayl Sakurai and had a son, Patch Hikari. His son inherits his skills as a NetBattler and as an all-around good person.Dex Oyama became the mayor of ACDC Town. Yai Ayanokoji became the president of her father’s company and, to everyone’s surprise, the wife of a certain Eugene Chaud. Chaud became the commander of the Official NetBattlers and the NetPolice. They had a son, Steven.
The Net Society is as good as it's ever been, with the Colonel and Iris programs deleting and cleaning the Net of all viruses. Dr. Lan Hikari is turning out to be a scientist as good if not better than his father, and has put forth the possibilities of Full Synchro and he also created a conversion program that links all the world's Nets together with EM Waves. It uses radio waves carried through by sattelites, and Navis can travel through to Nets far away. This is called the Ethernet (a reference to a similar thing in real life when cell phones aka PETs can access the internet). While this is still a prototype, and the number of Ethernet connections is puny compared to the size of the actual net, his advancements are helping the world stay linked where the Net cannot. At this point very few Navis can go through Ethernet; mostly officials use it to patrol the rest of the world.
However, recently net Crime has spiked up again and this time a new organization is behind the scenes: The Sigma Neos. They seemingly plan to spread a contagious and powerful virus throughout the Net to stop the Official's Navis and destroy the Ethernet connections with bombs to disable all communication with one country to another. With this mass panic in play, who knows what they're up to? That remains to be seen. It's up to none other than the Hikari family to stop them.
Watch as Patch makes new friends and allies, rivals and enemies alike, and embarks on a new adventure filled with plot twists, surprises, and awesome battles! Get ready for another adventure as Raito lives up to the Hikari name and saves the world!
